HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 12

Commemorating and memorializing the life of Chris Gray, a
student/athlete at West Virginia University, who passed on
September 11, 2001, during the attack on the World Trade
Center.

Whereas, Chris Gray was the son of Jim and Janet Gray; the
brother of Jay and Tim Gray; and fiancé of Kelly Gangwer of
Morgantown, West Virginia, to be married on May 18th, 2002; and

Whereas, Chris Gray played quarterback for West Virginia
University from 1987 until 1991 during which time he earned a
varsity letter and served on the 1988 Fiesta Bowl team and the 1992
Gator bowl team; and

Whereas, Chris Gray scored the first rushing two point
conversion of the Don Nehlen era; and

Whereas, Chris Gray's successful football career at West
Virginia University earned him a free agent signing with the Miami
Dolphins; and

Whereas, Chris Gray graduated from West Virginia University
with a masters degree in education in 1994; and

Whereas, Chris Gray was a friend to all who knew him; and

Whereas, Chris Gray touched the lives of everyone around him
with his contagious smile and his incessant humor; and

Whereas, Chris Gray was known to be a natural leader and a team
player who gave 110% all the time; and

Whereas, On September 11, 2001, Chris Gray was working on the
105th floor of the World Trade Center for Cantor Fitzgerald; and

Whereas, Many West Virginians are saddened by the loss of Chris
Gray; and

Whereas, The passing of Chris Gray, at the age of 32, should
not go unnoticed; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That regret is hereby expressed by the members at the passing
of Chris Gray, a loving son, brother and fianceé; accomplished
student/athlete; and cherished friend to many, and extend our
deepest condolences to his family and his fiancé; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates is
hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to Chris
Gray's parents, Jim and Janet Gray; his brothers, Jay and Tim Gray;
and his fiancé, Kelly Gangwer.
